Bacon wrapped green beans is my favorite way to eat green beans! This recipe is keto, paleo, whole 30 and gluten-free.
I am almost too embarrassed to write this recipe, because the bacon wrapped green beans use only 2 ingredients. But due to the simplicity, it also makes a great dish for camping!
You can pair bacon-wrapped green beans with pretty much anything! Some days, I simply eat it with sliced tomatoes. Here are more pairing ideas:
- 5 Ingredient Gluten Free Zucchini Crepe
- Smoked Salmon Potato Salad with Pickle Juice Dressing (a Probiotic Twist)
- Avocado Salad in Sun-Dried Tomato Dressing
- Baked Eggs in Portabella Mushroom Caps (Paleo, Keto, Whole 30)
- Paleo Baked Ribs
Green Beans
Green beans are indeed allowed on paleo, whole 30 and Keto!
I love to use organic frozen green beans, when fresh green beans aren’t in season. Either fresh or frozen will not affect the outcome of this recipe. They are preferably whole, in order to be properly wrapped in bundles.
Great Dish for Camping
We make bacon wrapped green beans at camping every summer. Whether you cook at home or at camping, make sure to cover the bacon wrapped green beans during cooking process, so that the green beans are steamed in the moisture of the bacon to achieve the most tender and delicious green beans.
When I make this recipe at home, I use a ceramic baking dish with lid; at camping, I use tin foil to make a sealed packet. If you have a lidded cast iron pan, it will be suitable for both home and camp fire cooking.
The photo below is what it looks like when I make a tin foil packet. Be sure to fold the seams tightly, so the juice (cooked out of the bacon) will not leak from the packet, and you can flip the packet to cook both sides on the camp fire.

Ingredients
- 1 – 1.5 lb. whole green beans, fresh or frozen
- 375 g all-natural bacon
Instructions
-
Wash the green beans if using fresh, then trim the ends.
-
Divide up the green beans into equal number of bundles to the number of bacon slices. Wrap each bundle of green beans in one slice of bacon. Try to cover as much as the green beans with the bacon.
-
Arrange all the bundles in your cooking vessel. I use a ceramic baking dish with lid at home, and use foil or lidded cast iron at camping. Either way, the bacon wrapped green beans should be completely covered during cooking. This will ensure the green beans are steamed with the moisture of the bacon.
-
In a pre-heated oven, bake the bacon wrapped green beans for 45 minutes, at 400ºF. When cooking on camp fire, the timing may vary based on the heat of the fire – check green beans after 40 minutes, and cook until the green beans are tender, flip half way through.
