Having family dinners together is always nice. However, having a dinner evening for adults only can be refreshing. It’s not every night that you can pull out the crystal and light candles for dinner. Having a nice meal does not require you to go out to a restaurant. You can make an evening at home fancy with a few simple steps. With Barber Foods Stuffed Chicken Breasts being the star of our menu with a few delicious sides, our evening was a success.
I love setting up the table for guests. I’m able to pull out the candles, add my favorite purple flower arrangement and even made some cute dinner menus for each place setting. Plus, it gave me a chance to use my new cake stands.
Selecting the main dish was easy when shopping for Barber Foods Stuffed Chicken Breasts. There were several flavors to consider; Cordon Bleu, Broccoli Cheese and Chicken Kiev. I decided to serve the new Cordon Bleu recipe – which was a huge hit. The breading is much crispier in the new recipe.
To pair nicely with the stuffed chicken Cordon Bleu I put together a garden salad with corn bread muffins and five cheese macaroni. For the garden salad I sliced up cucumbers and added baby tomatoes. Of course, I couldn’t forget the ice tea. I was excited to finally use a glass pitcher instead of our ugly plastic one that we keep in the refrigerator.
Homemade Five Cheese Macaroni
What better side to serve with Chicken Cordon Bleu than macaroni? We love cheese in this family! This homemade recipe made the perfect addition to dinner.
Ingredients
- 16oz of Pasta
- 3 Tablespoons of Butter
- 1 Tablespoon of Flour
- 3 Cups of Milk
- 8oz of Cream Cheese
- 1/2 Gruyere Cheese Shredded
- 2 Cups of Sharp White Cheddar Shredded
- 1 Cup of Sharp Yellow Cheddar Shredded
- 1/2 Cup Swiss and Parmesan Cheese Blend Shredded
Directions
Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the box. Once the pasta is cooked you can drain the water and set to the side until you are ready to add the cheese.
While you are cooking the pasta you can start melting the butter. Add butter to the skillet until melted, then stir in flour and cook on medium heat for about two minutes. Continuously stir until it becomes well blended. Next add in the milk slowly, stirring after each cup. Cook until it slightly thickens. Now it’s time to add the cream cheese. You will want to melt the entire 8oz block.
Continue stirring the cream cheese until it is fully melted.
After your pasta is drained you can add it back into the pot. You will pour the melted cream cheese mixture over the cooked noodles. Stir enough to blend. Then add your other four shredded cheeses and combine.
Once everything has been blended pour the noodles with cheese mixture into your casserole dish and put in the oven to bake on 350 degrees for 20 minutes. This will melt the rest of the cheeses.
You can cover your five cheese macaroni with foil to keep warm while you bake your stuffed chicken breasts.
Although I found the stuffed chicken breasts in the frozen isle of Kroger, the raw chicken still had to be baked in the oven and was full of flavor – not what you would normally expect from the frozen food section. We were pleasantly surprised with the fresh taste.
The new Barber Foods recipe is clearly marked on the front of the boxes so you won’t miss it.
Once you open the stuffed chicken breasts from the wrappers place them on a baking sheet and in the oven on 375 degrees. Follow the directions on the box to ensure you bake the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees. Some of the cheese may start to peek out but that’s okay.
The breading will be a nice golden brown when done. It’ll smell delicious before you even cut into it.
To give the table setting a nice personal touch I created little menus using PicMonkey. The online tool is free and I created the menus using the 4×6 template so I could print four to a page.
- Go to PicMonkey.com
- Select Design
- Click on 4×6
You can play with the tools on the left hand side of the page to design your own menu. I added an overlay by clicking the butterfly icon and selecting flourishes from the drop down. This is where I found the design I put under the word Menu.
When adding text I used two fonts, one for the Menu title and the second font to list the menu items. I changed my font to purple to match the flower centerpiece.
What’s dinner without dessert? While doing my grocery shopping for dinner I picked up a red velvet cake at the store. You didn’t think I baked that fancy thing, did you?
The entire dinner was a success and I cannot wait to duplicate it again. Maybe next time we will serve the stuffed broccoli and cheese chicken breasts.
Now that I’ve shared how Barber Foods Stuffed Chicken Breasts make a great meal, which flavor will you try?
